The Tooth Fairy's Second Chance

Nick came running up to me this morning in a panic and said, "My loose tooth is bleeding." Upon inspection I informed him that it wasn't the tooth that was bleeding, it was the hole where the tooth used to be.

His bottom front teeth have been loose for a month or so and when he was brushing his teeth this morning, one of them came out. At first I couldn't find the tooth to convince him of what was going on, but then I saw it on the bathroom floor. Nick scooped it up and then went outside to tell Bob the good news.

Which brings me to the tooth fairy. We don't have the most reliable tooth fairy around here. When Vivian lost her first tooth, she found her reward under her pillow the very next day. Since then, she hasn't been so lucky. Each night she would place the tooth under her pillow in a small plastic container and the next morning the container and tooth would still be there. Finally by the third morning, the tooth fairy would get her act together and all was well. Poor Vivian was always such a good sport when I would tell her the tooth fairy had e-mailed me that she was sick or otherwise unable to complete her rounds. Nick's not likely to buy into all that. He'll come up with a million reasons why it shouldn't have happened.

Here's hoping the TF does better tonight. We'll see.
